The word NOISES is commonly associated with negative phenomena, be it disturbing sounds or unwelcoming transmissions, but we wanted to take a more receptive approach when naming the sixth issue of BITE Magazine.
Our main focus throughout the production of all issues is providing a platform for creatives and artists to interpret a given theme, thereby enabling them to articulate their aesthetic perspectives in different forms. From Alexandre Plokhov’s innovative menswear and Steven Vainberg’s exploration of ideology to Gonzalo Bénard’s intimate portraiture, this issue once again attests to the astonishing breadth of new ideas ingrained in our contemporary digital-culture.

In our first anniversary issue, BITE Magazine endeavours to start anew by focusing on a clean cut aesthetic in line with the spirit of the spring-summer seasons. Thus, we set upon the notion of ‘Rinse and Repeat’ as a playful encapsulation of this fresh re-awakening.

BITE MAGAZINE 03 - NAVIGATE [WINTER 2011/12]

“Navigate” reads the cover of this issue of BITE Magazine, which refers to the process of accurately ascertaining one’s position and planning and following a route. This notion of movement is particularly exciting to us, as this issue explores how we move to the unknown in geographic, temporal and psychological terms.
The issue’s central feature - London Calling - features interviews with Christopher O’Brien and Nicomede Talavera. Both young and British menswear designers that highlight the vibrancy and excitement gripping the capital and menswear generally.

BITE MAGAZINE 02 - POWER [FALL 2011]

Notions of power are never fixed or absolute; every day humanity confronted by the power of money, the power of individuality, the power of art, the power of expression… But in this never-ending stream of powershifts, we - as individuals - decide for ourselves what power is to us and what goal it can achieve.
The centrepiece of the issue is dedicated to fashion designer and photographer Hedi Slimane, featuring an essay on his influence on menswear and masculinity, as well as interviews with Jono Namara, David Lindwall, Lukas Grout. Additional illustrations are provided by Javiera Soza and Henrietta Harris.
Extended essay, entitled ‘Annus Mirabilis’, focuses on the London riots in Summer 2011, written by Marri Lynn Knadle and featuring documentary photography by Mehdi Lacoste.
Featuring photography by Andy Long Hoang, Matin Zad, Jessica Elaine, David Urbanke, Maxime Fauconnier, David Nikolasein, Michael Brambila and Phill Taylor. Further interviews with artists Riyo Nemeth, Vincent Camo, Jason Judd and dance-group The Youth Collective Movement.
